Letter From the Secretary-General

Most Distinguished Delegates, Chairs and Advisors,

On behalf of the executive board, it is with great pride, excitement and honor to welcome you to the ninth session of Darüşşafaka Model United Nations 2024, which will take place on 15-16-17th of March.

Countries and their leaders started to separate themselves from one another rather than unite as the era changed and advanced. Numerous socio political problems were a result of this seclusion. The leaders started seeking for weaknesses in one another.  Political issues originating from greed derived. These leaders also damaged their people by trampling on them. Many more problems emerged as a result of this power-hungry administrators. I firmly believe that our generation—the next crop of politicians—will provide the permanent solutions to these issues.

Therefore, as enlightened politicians of the future this year at DarüşşafakaMUN’24 delegates are going to focus on the theme “Continental Polarization : Unraveling Universal Factionalism in the Modern Era”. You can easily access the theme letter from our website. It is highly recommended that you read this letter in order to gain a better understanding of the theme.

This year, DarüşşafakaMUN’24 has 4 GA Committees and 4 Special Committees. Each seeks to solve a separate problem while also allowing participants to gain a deeper awareness of international relations and issues. I am also very proud and excited to announce that, for the first time in nine years, DarüşşafakaMUN is finally holding an ICJ Committee, which I will be directing with my dearest co-director. For further information, please see our website’s “Committees” section.

On behalf of the Executive Team, I am incredibly proud to invite you to our most in-depth and topline session of DarüşşafakaMUN’24, as I believe with my whole heart that this year’s agenda items will be extremely beneficial to our understanding of current global challenges. I also want to thank each and every member of the Executive Team for their efforts in making this conference the best it can be.

Hope to see you with us,

Sincerely,

Secretary-General
